Bashkortostan has become winner of the II festival-presentation of tourist resources “Open Volga Region”

The challenge symbol of the festival “Open Volga Region” – a jasper boat – left Mari-Al and arrived in Bashkortostan. Our Republic has become the festival’s winner-2012 and the next forum will be held in Ufa. The contests were held in 22 nominations and Bashkir team won 19 prize places, including the first place among regions of Volga federal district.

The chairman of state committee for business undertakings and tourism RB Ruslan Kinzikeev reported about agreements, reached in interregional cooperation, to the news agency “Bashinform”.

“Acquaintance with experience of Republic of Mari-Al on construction of a tourist mall, attracting thousands tourists now, has become the main result of our agreements. The former godforsaken provincial town, numbering just about 260 thousand people, for seven years has been transformed by the governor of the region Leonid Markelov into a magic city. Thanks to reconstruction of the town old center and the town embankment in Italian, Belgian, Saxon and Moscow architectural styles the capital of Mari-Al – Yoshkar-Ola – has become a tourist Mecca now. The experience of Yoshkar-Ola as well as experience of Kazan and Yekaterinburg proves that well thought-out new architecture is able to attract flows of tourists in this or that region”.
