In Russia 96 percent of townspeople have banking cards

More than half of inhabitants of the Russian cities have two-three plastic banking cards. According to sociological research by Romir company there are 53 percent of such people. 28 percent of townspeople are holders of one card, 15 more percent own four and more cards and only four percent do not have any banking “plastic”.

Thus the greatest share of owners of four and more banking cards (20 percent) falls on the younger age group of respondents under 25 years. The same category of townspeople uses cards the most often.

As it was found out, 68 percent of Russians first of all use cards for withdrawing some cash from ATMs. 63 percent of the interrogated use them for payment of goods and services in points of sale, 55 percent of cardholders pay services through banking terminals. 42 more percent pay by cards for products and service on the Internet, and 33 percent use "plastic" for accumulation of funds.

Those people who use ATMs for paying services, pay first of all for the Internet, phone and TV — 81 percent. 63 percent pay for housing and communal services ATMs, and 53 percent use them for cash remittance.

1000 respondents took part in the interrogation — representatives of all federal districts at the age from 16 years and upwards, living in cities with the population from 100 thousand people.
