Rustem Khamitov: “Big Chemistry is the main site in the country in sphere of chemical industry”

“The forum “Big Chemistry” is the main site in the country today, where problems in development of chemical industry are under discussion” – the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov said, answering questions of journalists – “And we understand that this development is impossible without raw materials”.

The problems of supplying oil-chemical enterprises in Volga federal district with raw materials were one of the main topics of the forum. At the same time Rustem Khamitov has mentioned that the theme of construction of a pipeline fr om Siberia to Volga zone starts stirring certain speculations.

“At present time the company “SIBUR” is the owner of gas-oil products pipeline but it doesn’t mean that additional sources in Yamal-Nenets autonomous district are absent” – the President RB said.

The general director of the company “SIBUR” Dmitry Konov has said, speaking at the forum that moving to the north and discovering new deposits the company receives additional gas sources, including the gas for chemical industry, but the problem arises: wh ere they have to transport this gas to?

“We think that this gas should be transported to Volga federal district for development of our enterprises” – Rustem Khamitov believes.

If this project becomes a reality, the volumes of chemical output in the district will be doubles and regions of Volga federal district can open about 70 thousand new workplaces.

“How can we refuse from such projects? Sure, we shall prove its necessity” – the President RB said.

Rustem Khamitov also mentioned that special workgroup would work up a feasibility study for this project in the nearest future.

“The project will cost several billion USD, perhaps 6-7 billion dollars. But these sums are quite admissible for our economics, for the big companies, interested in transportation of raw materials – in Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, in Samara region, in Perm and Nizhniy Novgorod regions. This is a mega-project” – the President RB stated.
