“Megaphone” starts launching 4G networks in Russia

“Megaphone” starts launching 4G networks in Russia. The LTE (long Term Evolution) technology, on which 4G networks are based, maintains mobile data transference with the speed up to 50 megabits per second.
“Today “Megaphone” is considered one of the leaders in Russian mobile communication market. Developing third-generation networks faster than others, we managed to make mobile internet really available for millions people in the country. The infrastructure of our network is excellently prepared for transition to higher technological level and today we are making this important step, opening 4G networks in the interests of both Russian consumers and Russian economics as well” – the deputy general director of “megaphone” Valerie Ermakov stated.
The main technological advantage of “Megaphone” 4G network is its full compatibility with 3G and 2G networks, already long ago launched on the whole territory of Russia, and it means that those users, who have 4G-phones can be automatically accepted by 3G/2G networks in case of leaving 4G zone, thereby keeping stable internet access.
In the first half of 2012 “Megaphone” intends to open 4G networks in Moscow, Krasnodar and Sochi and till the end of the year – in Saint-Petersburg, Samara, Vladivostok, Ufa and some other Russian cities.
