New financial ombudsman will be appointed in Russia

The financial ombudsman of Russia Paul Medvedev has resigned before the appointed time due to transfer to another job, the site of the Russian Banks Association reports. The ex-deputy of State Duma Paul Medvedev will work in the Central Bank of Russia as a consultant of the chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Sergey Ignatiev.

At present time Garegin Tosunyan is the acting reconciler in the Russian financial market and the question concerning election of a new financial ombudsman will be discussed at the meeting of the Russian Banks Association Council at the end of March.

It is worth reminding that Paul Medvedev was the first public reconciler in the Russian financial market and the institute of financial ombudsman, which main obligation was to solve disputable issues between financial organizations (banks, insurance companies etc) and their clients, avoiding bringing the case to the court, started working in Russia in October 2010.

As the news agency “Bashinform” reported earlier, Bashkortostan has become the first Russian region, where a regional office of the financial ombudsman was opened. Since April 2011the lawyer from Ufa Valerie Sharipov plays the role of public reconciler in the market of financial services in the Republic. At present time similar offices are opened in other three regions of the country.
