Rustem Khamitov: “We have to make our agriculture more up-to-date”

Modernization of agriculture is considered one of the top goals for Bashkir leadership and the Republican authorities intend to become the all-Russian leader in this sphere with the help of the bank community.

“Agriculture is one of the leaders of our economics but we are still found behind the all-Russian agricultural leaders. We should make our agriculture more up-to-date, we need another image and format of agriculture” – the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov stated during the meeting with the bankers.

He has underscored that the Government RB strengthens support of agrarians, launching the programs for modernization of the Republican agricultural complex and for support of private auxiliary farmings but it can’t do it with bank support.

“In 2011 we’ve given out about two billion rubles for spring field works. About eight billion rubles have been distributed as credits within the frames of the program for development of agriculture RB. Nonetheless our agricultural enterprises still face the deficit of bank credits as well as small farms” – the President RB mentioned.

Rustem Khamitov urged the bankers to take an active part in development of such programs as, for example, “500 farms”, within the frames of which the authorities intend to put 500 milk farms into exploitation in the course of 5-7 years.

“We have to hold the first place in Russia by milk production. For today the milk market of Russia by more than 30% and in some regions by 40% consists of foreign-made milk products”.
