The institution of financial ombudsmen started working in Russia in October 2010 and the State Duma deputy Paul Medvedev became the first public conciliator in the Russian financial market.
The main aim of an ombudsman is to settle the disputes between citizens and financial organizations of the country – banks, insurance companies, pawn shops etc – not driving the case to the court. Only natural persons may ask the ombudsman for help and at that his services for them are absolutely free.
