Bashkortostan is waiting for the drop of buckwheat prices

“Republican farmings intend to harvest 14 thousand tons of buckwheat this year and in this case we’ll have the three-year reserve of it” – the head of the food markets department under the Ministry of agriculture RB Valerie Belov reported at the press-conference in the news agency “Bashinform”.
As the functionary explained, it doesn’t mean that the whole buckwheat harvest will stay on the territory of the Republic, since the agrarians have the right to sell it in other regions too.
“This rather optimistic forecast on buckwheat harvest permits us to hope that the market will regulate the buckwheat prices self-dependently. The practice shows that if we have enough reserves of the product as well as healthy competition in this sphere, the prices start going down. At present time buckwheat prices already begin dropping” – the representative of the Ministry of agriculture RB stated.
It should be reminded that during the last autumn and in the beginning of 2011 the retail buckwheat prices jumped up to 100 rubles for one kilogram because of the last unprecedented drought and, as a consequence, because of the stormy demand. Earlier the cost of buckwheat never exceeded 20 rubles for one kilogram.
Valerie Belov also forecasts good potato prices. Because of the same reason the potato prices in the Republic became the same as the prices for the imported oranges. But now the potato prices are lower than in spring.
