Bashkortostan intends to participate in construction of the high-speed trunk-railway “Moscow-Yekaterinburg”

The leadership of Bashkortostan actively works on direct participation of the Republic in construction of the high-speed trunk-railway “Moscow-Yekaterinburg” (VSM-2). The deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB Sergey Afonin has told the journalists about it on August 3, during the briefing.

“Sverdlovsk region and Tatarstan also take an active stand along with us in this question” – the Vice-Premier said – “The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov discussed this subject with the President of “Russian Railways” Vladimir Yakunin and met the approval fr om him. We want the railway should run through Ufa. Now the specialists are working over the traffic-analysis, wh ere our proposals have to be taken into account. This process will take about six months”.

The trunk-railway has to cover several big cities: Ufa, Kazan, Perm, Vladimir, Nizhniy Novgorod and Samara. Other variants are under consideration too.

It is planned the train’s speed will be about 400 kilometers/hour.
