Bashkortostan started working over the program for introduction and development of GLONASS technologies

The first meeting of the workgroup for cooperation between the Government RB and the federal network provider JSC “Navigation Information Systems” (NIS) has taken place in Ufa on July 12. The meeting was headed by the Minister of communication and mass communications RB Boris Melkoedov. The director of the “NIS” regional development department Sergey Miroshnik introduced the basic regional program, approved on the federal level, to the members of the workgroup. The similar Republican program will be worked up on its base.

At present time Republic of Bashkortostan already has certain designs on introduction of the GLONASS system. Thus, such system was already tested on 17 passenger buses in Ufa. Other 26 buses, already ordered by JSC “BASHAVTOTRANS”, will leave the conveyor of JSC “NEFAZ”, already equipped with GLONASS units.

The final project of the program for GLONASS introduction and development will be introduced to the Government RB by the end of August 2011 in accordance with the needs of social-economic development RB.

For the reference: the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) is the Russian satellite navigation system. Any movable object, equipped with GLONASS block, is able to determine and specify the parameters of its movement on any spot of the globe at any moment of time – three coordinates and three constituents of the velocity vector.

Introduction of systems and solutions on the base of GLONASS technologies in social-economic practice of Russian regions is one of the main directions of activity of the federal network provider “NIS GLONASS”.

Bashkortostan and “NIS GLONASS” have signed the agreement about strategic cooperation on June 15, 2011.
