Machine-tool plant in Sterlitamac has to be driven out of the crisis

The machine-tool plant in the town of Sterlitamac has to be driven out of the crisis. The President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov said so today after inspection of the enterprise. “The Republic will come out as the plant’s lobbyist” – the President RB said. In his opinion the plant faces good prospects for successful development but its main problem is high competition in the Russian market. The equipment, similar to that, produced by the plant, is imported from China and other countries and at that the enterprise can hardly compete with Chinese manufacturers in price. The economic crisis adversely affected the plant’s activity, though one year before it had invested 347 million rubles in technical rearmament.

In opinion of the President RB the plant can be a purveyor for such industrial giants as “ROSATOM” and “RUSHYDRO”.

It should be noted that “RUSHYDRO” intends to erect a plant for production of equipment for power-engineering near Ufa jointly with “ALSTOM”. The machine-tool plant from Sterlitamac can become a purveyor of its equipment for this future plant too. In the future the plant can also deliver the equipment for the “DAF” trucks, which are also to be produced near Ufa.
