Rustem Khamitov: “Tourism in Bashkiria has to be developed systematically”

The meeting, devoted to the entry tourism, with participation of the President RB Rustem Khamitov has taken place in Ufa. According to him tourism is considered the most important constituent of local economics in many countries.

“But we are found still too far from it” – he said – “According to the statistics the number of the tourists in Bashkiria goes up but the matter is that these tourists come from CIS. In particular, we recently observe the inrush of citizens from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Kirgizia but they come here to earn money instead of spending”.

The number of real tourists has reduced by 15%.

“Till recently we considered the crisis would help us to develop the internal tourism. But it hasn’t happened. Let’s take Finland as an example. We have very similar nature here and we have mountains, which Finland never had. Nonetheless people prefer Finland”.

Rustem Khamitov has mentioned the tourism in Bashkiria has to be developed systematically but at the same time the Republic doesn’t take part in the federal programs on development of tourism. “We mustn’t stand aside and have to offer real ideas” – the President RB stated.

The chairman of the state business undertakings and tourism committee RB Ruslan Kinzikeev said it was necessary to promote real Bashkir brands and products but the efforts, made today, were evidently insufficient. Besides, the project – the so called super-cluster “Bashkortostan” – was offered at the meeting. 20 billion rubles will be necessary for its start-up. But in opinion of the President RB even this project doesn’t guarantee efficient development of tourism in the region.
