World Day for consumer right protection to be held under the slogan “Consumers for honest financial services”

On March 15 the world consumer community will celebrate the World Day for consumer right protection. The International Consumer Organizations Federation determines the subject-matter of the Day every year.

According to information of the Federal Service for Supervision in Sphere of Consumer Rights in 2011 the Day will be celebrated under the slogan “Consumers for honest financial services”. In 2010 the Day’s slogan was “Our Money, Our Rights”. This subject is continued in 2011 too. The problems of consumer right protection in the market of financial services don’t loose actuality, so the world consumer community is troubled with the state of things in this sphere. In 2010 the representatives of the International Consumer Organizations Federation have managed to convince the leaders of G20 to investigate the opportunities of consumer right protection strengthening in the market of financial services, since the insufficient level of these services was one of the key catalysts of the last financial crisis. The work in this direction will be continued in 2011 within the frames of the project “Striving for honest financial services” since the access to stable, transparent and legal financial services has important international meaning irrespective of the country the consumer lives in.

The World Day of consumer right protection, held under the aegis of the United Nations Organization, is marked in Russia every year since 1994.
