Timber export from Bashkiria is taken under special control

The President of Bashkiria Rustem Khamitov demanded fr om the Government RB to toughen the measures for prevention of illegal timber export from the region.

The President gave the situation in one of Bashkir regions, wh ere a state enterprise illegally exported round timber to the businessmen from a neighboring region through its affiliated structures as an example.

“While we are busy with working over numerous state programs, some fraudulent schemes go on working and the situation comes to the point when poachers start felling even the genetic reserves, i.e. the best trees. If somebody steals our resources, no programs would help. We have to preserve our genetic reserves, erecting the barriers on their way” – Rustem Khamitov stated.

The President RB demanded to liquidate all “grey” schemes in timber export in the region and underscored the authority should start solving this problem immediately in close coordination with the Republican law-enforcement bodies, the public affairs service of the President RB reports.
