Honey potential of Bashkiria is estimated at half a million tons

The honey potential of Bashkiria is estimated approximately at 525 thousand tons, the director of the Bashkir scientific-research center on bee-keeping and apitherapy Amir Ishemgulov reported on Wednesday at the meeting of the state committee for agrarian issues, ecology and nature management RB. At the same time the real gross honey production in Bashkiria makes up about 12 thousand tons, i.e. the Republic uses just one third of its honey potential.

“It is quite possible to keep 1,3 million bee-families on the territory RB” – Amir Ishemgulov said – We possess centuries-old traditions in bee-keeping and one may receive education by this profile at the Bashkir State Agrarian University, at 18 professional colleges and a more than 100 general education schools RB. Besides, we have a powerful legal base for development of bee-keeping and all that permits us to use the honey potential in much higher rates than we have today”.
