The rise of food prices went on in Bashkiria on January

Bashkir statisticians determined the average consumer food prices in the region in January. The list includes 33 main foodstuffs. As compared with December 2010 the food prices go on steadily rising. Thus, the flour in Bashkiria became by almost 1 ruble more expensive and cost 18,5 rubles. Rye-wheat bread became by 1 ruble 50 kopecks more expensive and its average price in the Bashkir towns was within the limits of 23 rubles for one kilogram.
Steady rise of vegetable-and-fruit prices is registered in January and specialists explain this rise by the summer drought and correspondingly by the very poor harvest in the region. Thus, potato went up by 12,5 rubles just for one month. In January the cost of the “second bread” in the Republic was on the level of 41,19 rubles for one kilogram. Cabbage went up to 32,47 rubles, carrot – up to 34,20 rubles (+3,20 rubles) and apples went up by 7 rubles as compared with December 2010.
The forecast that because of the shortage of fodders villagers will start mass cattle slaughter and the Republic will receive cheap meat, haven’t come true. Thanks to the state support the Republic managed to store the necessary volumes of fodders. As a result, the beef went up by 20 rubles up to 196,40 rubles for one kilogram in January on average. Pork and mutton also became more expensive. The meat fairs are expected in Ufa on the nearest weekends and, perhaps, this measure will help to make the meat prices more stable.
The rise of food prices is registered in Russia in a whole. According to the Russian State Statistics Committee buckwheat went up by 2,5%, millet – by 1,9%, margarine, sunflower oil, sugar and beef – by 0,5-0,7% for the last January week. Vegetable-and-fruit prices went up by 1,2% on average.
