Golden “Irendyk Bear” will be kept at National Museum RB

The ceremony of presentation of the unique golden nugget fr om the National Bank RB to the National Museum RB has taken place in Ufa on Thursday, January 20.
The nugget, weighing 4 kilograms 788 grams, has a form of a bear and estimated approximately at six million rubles.
It was discovered in 1992 by the mechanician from the state farm “BAIMAKSKY” near the village KUSEEVO on the eastern spur of Irendyksky Mountains, so it was called “Yrendyk”.
A tractor driver has turned the nugget by plough from the ground from the depth approximately at 30 centimeters. He was hiding it during nearly two weeks until the local policemen discovered the nugget. The policemen presented the nugget to the state. Since 1992 the nugget was kept at the National Bank RB and belonged to the Ministry of finances RB.
The legend says Bashkirs carried it for donating to the Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible but the caravan was attacked by robbers. One of the Bashkirs managed to dig the nugget into the ground, wh ere it laid during 436 years.
Today the Minister of finances RB Ruzalia Khismatullina presented “Irendyk Bear”, considered one of seven miracles RB, to the Minister of culture RB Oscar Abdrazakov. From now the nugget will be kept at the National Museum RB and demonstrated as the national treasure of Bashkiria as well as of the whole of Russia.
