More than one third of water pipes in Bashkiria need replacement. The water losses in the water-supplies in the Republic make up 43,4 million cubic meters per year or 12,7% of the water volume in the supply, the Minister of housing and communal services RB Geman Asadullin stated at the press-conference in the news agency “Bashinform”.

According to the Minister the extension of the water pipes in the Republic makes up 14490,7 kilometers and 5380,7 kilometers or 37,1% have to be replaced. He has also reported the extension of the drainage systems in the region is 3605,5 kilometers and 898,4 kilometers or 24,9% have also to be replaced. Because of the wear of the heat systems in Bashkiria the losses of the heat energy make up 2 million gig-calories or 7,2% of the consumption volume per year. The extension of the heat systems in Bashkiria is 4109,9 kilometers and 462,4 kilometers or 11,3% need urgent replacement.

In order to remove the water losses and improve water supply the sub-units of the housing and communal services use new equipment during the major repair of the buildings. Thus, the metallic pipes are replaced with the polymeric ones, which lifetime is much longer.
