The Halal exhibition in Meleuz gathered representatives of three regions

The goods fr om three regions of the country – Bashkortostan, Chelyabinsk and Belgorod regions – were presented at the Second Republican Halal exhibition-fair, held in the town of Meleuz last Saturday. In total complexity 13 producers of Halal foods have taken part in its work.

The chairman of the Halal standard committee under the Clerical Muslim Dept RB Timur Shangareev, the first deputy chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB Aup Bibarsov, representatives of Muslim clergy and Meleuzovsky regional administration took part in the solemn opening ceremony.

“When organizing this fair we’ve taken the experience of the previous similar Halal exhibition in the town of Durtuli into account” - Timur Shangareev said – “Wider geography of our participants and higher interest of the population in the exhibition is the result of such approach”.

“It is remarkable that the exhibition is held on the eve of the Holy Month of Ramadan” – the first deputy chairman of the Clerical Muslim Dept RB Aup Bibarsov believes – “That fact that holding of such exhibitions in our Republic is already becoming traditional can be explained by the rising popularity of Halal industry all over the world. This market is very promising for Russian producers too since 20 million Muslims live in the country. The word “Halal” (from the Arab word “al-halal” – permitted, allowed) has long ago become the synonym of what a Muslim may eat. “Halal” is the trademark, indicating that the food is cooked in strict accordance with the Muslim canons and traditions and doesn’t contain any components, considered vetoed for all Muslims. This notion is concerned first of all with the production of the foodstuffs but in reality its frames are much wider and spread on practically all spheres of life – clothes, literature and various services”.

Same day the meeting of the members of the Halal standard committee has taken place in Meleuz, wh ere the prospects of further Halal industry development both in Bashkortostan and the neighboring regions were under discussion. The representatives of the veterinarian, certification and standardization bodies, the regional administration and the Muslim clergy also participated in the discussion.

As Tumur Shangareev reported, 29 Halal enterprises, engaged in manufacturing of foodstuffs and cosmetics, Muslim clothes, literature and souvenirs, already joined the committee, founded just more than one year ago. The organizations, busy with medical and ritual services in accordance with the Islamic canons, are also present in the staff of the Halal standard committee. Along with the certification and organization of the Halal fairs the Halal standard committee actively works with the public community jointly with the Clerical Muslim Dept RB.

It is expected the similar Halal exhibitions will be held more often in the nearest future and the Halal standard committee intends to date two nearest fairs to the forthcoming very important Muslim holidays – Uraza-Bayram and Kurgan-Bayram. It is expected these two exhibitions will be held correspondingly in Magnitogorsk and Ufa.
