Minimum wholesale price for vodka is introduced since July 1

From today, the minimum wholesale price for vodka is introduced in Russia – 70 roubles for a half-litre bottle. The innovation concerns both domestic and import production. Thus, Rosalkogolregulirovanie tries to liquidate "shadow angle" of alcoholic production market.

— Introduction of minimum wholesale price for vodka is directed first of all against the unfair manufacturers which evade from payment of excise taxes, — Aibulat Hajbullin, the head of the department RB on consumers protection and control over turnover and quality of alcoholic production commented on the innovation. – Now manufacturers cannot sell vodka at knock-down prices. At the same time, this measure will not affect in any way the cost of alcohol for ordinary consumers.

In Bashkortostan there is our own manufacturer of alcoholic production — JSC "Bashspirt" which works only under "reported for tax" schemes and is one of the largest tax bearers. The role and responsibility of business is great in the decision of the given problem. Therefore, the cheapest vodka in trading networks of republic costs not less than 95-100 roubles.

The Head of Gosprodupravlenie RB underlined that the wholesale price of legally made alcohol cannot be below 70-80 roubles. Even if on average the cost price of a half-litre bottle of vodka is about 15 roubles, the excise taxes for its manufacture will make 42 roubles. Taking into account the VAT and the profit of the enterprise the price already exceeds 70 roubles.

According to estimations of experts, in connection with the taken measures the turnover of illegal alcohol in Russia following the results of the first quarter of this year reduced to 30 %.
