Bashkir ores can contain the rare metal

The ores of the deposits “Ubileiny” and “Podolskoe” can contain rhenium. The deputy head of the subsurface use agency RB Alexander Chernov reported to “Bashinform” about it today.

“There are the certain presuppositions that our ores can contain rhenium” – he said “Today we sent a part of the samples for the tests. The results will be known soon. If our expectations come true, we'll start searching for the methods of its mining on the territory of Bashkortostan”.

Rhenium is a rare metal and considered one of the most refractory. It is common with molybdenum and tungsten by its physical properties. It is used in space and aviation industry. Rhenium is rather expensive metal. One kilogram costs about one thousand dollars and ultrapure rhenium is even more expensive.
