18290 kids were born in Bashkortostan in 2010

Within the period between January and May 18290 children were born in Bashkortostan – 755 kids more than for the same period of time in 2009. In 2009 55600 children have been born in Bashkortostan. The birth rate coefficient makes up 13,7 births per 1000 people and the average Russian index is equal to 12,4. At present time Bashkortostan holds the second place in Volga federal district by birth rate and the 18th – in Russia in a whole.
The growth of the demographic showings is directly concerned with the stable social-economic situation in the Republic. All conditions for children are to the fore. 1787 pre-school education institutions function in Bashkortostan. At the beginning of 2010 165,4 thousand kids went to local kindergartens.
1997 day-time general education institutions and 771 all-Russian divisions with 444,1 thousand pupils work in Bashkortostan this school year, including 51,2 thousand pupils, studying at 79 gymnasiums and 29,2 thousand – at 51 lyceums. At the day-time general education schools children are taught in Russian, Bashkir, Tatar, Mari, Chuvash and Udmurt languages. Besides, Mordvinian, German, Ukrainian, Byelorussian, Lettish and Polish languages are studied as the separate subjects. Armenian and Jewish languages are studied at Sunday schools.
High attention is paid to protection of children’s health in Bashkortostan. 87 children’s polyclinics and in-patient units with 1,9 thousand registered pediatricians work in Republic of Bashkortostan. About four thousand summer camps are opened in the summertime, i.e. every second pupil is involved in summer rest and health recovery.
