Test-flights of the Russian fighter of the fifth generation are going on

The test-flights of the Russian fighter of the fifth generation are running according to the schedule and one more stage of the tests, meant for checking of the electronic equipment, mounted onboard, is held on the territory of the Flight-Research Institute by M.M. Gromov.

The fighter is equipped with the principally new avionics and an improved radar guidance system. High intellectual equipping of the fighter considerably reduces the load on the pilot, allowing him concentrating upon execution of the tactical aims.

The fighter is manufactured jointly by more than 100 enterprises. Thus, JSC “UMPO” (Ufa) and JSC “Saturn” are the inventors and manufacturers of the fighter’s engine. The first test-flight of the fighter with the new engines has taken place on January 29, 2010.

The fighter is equipped with two vector-thrust engines “117”, which makes the fighter super-mobile. The designers also point to obscurity in the sky and the ability to super-long supersonic flights as the unique peculiarities of the new fighter.
