New achievements of Bashkir selectionists

Three of four sorts of lemon, included into the State Register of Selective Achievements RF, are grown up in the hothouses of the Ufa lemon farm. Moreover, there are two citrons in this list and both were also cultivated in Ufa, the director of the State Sorting Commission Bashkir office Ivan Lavrentiev told at the forum “Social partnership is the base for successful training of specialists in sphere of forestry and woodworking industry”, held at the Ufa forestry college today.

“The Ufa lemon farm is unique – this is the largest farm of citrus plants in the Eastern Europe, where not just various fruits are cultivated but the experimental activity runs” – he said – “And Republican selectionists actively work in this direction”.

The professor of the plant cultivation chair at the Bashkir State Agrarian University Gizer Mansurov also told about the importance of plant cultivation development in the region:

“The fruits, cultivated at the Ufa lemon farm, have evident advantages” – he said – “First of all these fruits aren’t processed with chemicals and contain more vitamins. The economic constituent is also important. Buying the imported fruits today we fill foreign pockets, so we have to pay serious attention to our own economy especially since our Republic possesses all necessary conditions for that”.
