“METCHEL” holds leading positions in Russia on wire products manufacturing

At the beginning of March the association of metal producers published the analytical report about development of the wire product market in Russia, which stated that in January and February the company “METCHEL” preserved leading positions in Russia on manufacturing of wire products. Thus, in January-February, 2010, two enterprises in the staff of “METCHEL” – the Beloretsky metallurgical plant and the Vyartsilsky wire plant jointly produced more wire products than any other Russian company – a member of the association “PROMMETIZ” and that was registered on the background of the general slump of industrial production in Russia.

In January the enterprises in the staff of the association “PROMMETIZ” have manufactured 105,6 thousand tons of wire products and in February – 119,6 thousand tons. The growth made 13,2%.

Having reached the first place in the fourth quarter of 2009, METCHEL” remains the leader at the beginning of 2010 by the volumes of wire production in Russia too. In January and February JSC “Beloretsky metallurgical plant” has manufactured more than 64,5 thousand tons of wire products and JSC “Vyartsilsky metallurgical plant” – about 17 thousand tons.

The association “PROMMETIZ” is the largest and the most authoritative Russian organization, engaged in collection and analysis of the data about the wire product market and all largest Russian producers of wire products are the members of this organization.

The Senior Vice-President of JSC “METCHEL” Vladimir Polin mentioned: “Thanks to good work of “METCHEL” marketing departments and the efficient program for reduction of the production costs we managed to restore the loading of our capacities. It allowed us to hold and preserve leading positions on production of high-margin wire products in 2009. This fact again proves the correctness of the strategy for development of this metallurgical segment, chosen by us”.
