Tariffs on housing and communal services are under special control

The President RB Murtaza Rakhimov has taken part in the all-Russian selector meeting re “Regulation of prices and tariffs on housing and communal services”, held by the deputy Chairman of Russian Government Dmitry Kozak in video mode, on March 15 in Ufa.
The Vice-Premier underscored the lowering of the housing and communal tariffs in those regions, where their rise exceeded 25%, should occur during this week. According to him the problem of the tariffs on housing and communal services “acquires rather acute political character”.
The tariff regulation on housing and communal services in Bashkortostan is found under special control. In a whole the average cost of housing and communal services on one square meter of housing made 55,5 rubles since January 1, 2010, with the growth equal to 13,5% as compared with the last year level.
Liquidation of the cross-subsidization is one of the main reasons of the tariff growth. As the chairman of the Republican tariff commission RB Valentine Alexandrov said to “Bashinform”, the state of things in Bashkortostan is still rather normal and “as compared with others our region is still found in a rather good position”.
At that M-r Alexanderov is certain “the Russian Government influences upon the changes of the tariffs very substantially”. According to him “there are too many federal indices, directly influencing upon the tariffs in the regions” and they have to follow these instructions.
The head of the commission supposes there is no need for the federals to regulate practically everything and they have to leave certain competences for the regions. “Only economically weak regions are happy to get rid of the cross-subsidizing and we can afford it because Bashkortostan is a powerful region” – M-r Alexandrov concluded.
