Large beds of jasper are discovered in Bashkortostan

In 2009 the Nature Management Dept RB has finished its investigations on semi-precious stones. As the head of the department Rasikh Khamitov told, the investigations in this sphere were held since 2007. The specialists of the department have estimated the jasper beds in four regions of the Republic: Utchalinsky, Abzelilovsky, Baimaksky and Khaibullinsky. The forecasted resources of this unique semi-precious stone are estimated at 2,4 million tons. The jasper belt 50 kilometers wide runs through the whole Republic – from Miass to Orenburg region.
Gasper is a wonderful semi-precious stone, available only in the Ural zone. Its color spectrum is very rich and the stone is easily polished. Its advantages are appreciated by the largest museums in the world. The jasper articles can be met in Hermitage and Louver.
Some Republican arts and crafts enterprises are engaged in stone working, turning jasper into decorative small boxes and souvenirs. The stone cutters restore the production of the Florence mosaic on the base of jasper, continuing the ancient traditions of Ural masters.
