New technologies in production of electric transport help to save energy

Lubov Kolokolova
Moving electric transport to energy-saving technologies and renewal of the rolling stock are the main aims of the branch for today. Trams and trolley-buses belong to social kinds of public transport and millions of people use it daily. Besides, electric transport doesn’t pollute the environment and not as expensive in exploitation as the motor-car one, so this transport has to be developed and supported by all means. This is the opinion of many participants of today’s interregional scientific-practical conference “New technologies in development of electric transport: realities and prospects”, held in Ufa. In opinion of the director of the Yekaterinburg’s “Tram and trolley-bus administration” the problem of the rolling stock’s renewal is especially painful now. Every region solves this problem in its own way but at the same time certain decisions have to be made at the federal level. In 2009 the question of normative-lawful regulation of urban electric transport’s activity had been discussed by State Duma but no concrete solutions were proposed that time.
The General Director of JSC “Bashkir trolley-bus plant” Said Zakirov says the new technologies help to save about 40% of electric energy. As he said, not all trolley-bus administrations acknowledged the new trolley-bus with the asynchronous engine and many treat it with fear. At the same time this model is quite efficient in exploitation.
The General Director of the “Electric Transport Administration” of Ufa Michael Davydov has reported about 250 thousand Ufa citizens use trams and trolley every day. In 2009 the electric transport has transported more than 80 million passengers. Every day more than 300 units of electric transport work on the routes but the major part of Ufa rolling stock needs urgent renewal. In 2009 19 new trolley-buses and one tram joined the Ufa’s fleet.
