Fish-breeding is actively developed in Bashkortostan

Russia feels an urgent need for fish. Within the period between 1990 and 2007 the average per capita fish consumption in the country fell by 60%. Now it makes less than a half of the norm, recommended by the Nourishment Institute under the Russian Academy of medical sciences.

Permanent uncontrolled catch and poaching led to substantial shortage of fish livestock, especially sturgeon and salmon fish. In order to fill these losses up fish-breeding was announced the prior branch within the frames of the top priority national project “Development of agriculture” in 2007.

The meeting under chairmanship of the first deputy Chairman of Russian Government Viktor Zubkov has taken place in Moscow in autumn this year. It was dedicated to the problems of this branch’s development.

Republic of Bashkortostan develops fish-breeding rather successfully. Within the frames of the Republican program for development of agriculture and regulation of agricultural raw material and food markets in 2008-2012 several investment projects are under realization in sphere of fish-breeding in our Republic, Ministry of economic development RB reported.

In particular, the incubation shop with the capacity up to 600 thousand pieces of young fish is erected in “KARMANOVSKAYA fish-factory”. The state unitary enterprise “BASHMELIOVODKHOZ” finishes modernization of the fish-factory in Buzdiaksky region RB with the annual capacity up to 23 tons of fish and 7 tons of fry.
