Rustem Mardanov: situation in bank sphere is becoming more stable

The level of provision with bank services in Bashkortostan is enough though the crisis heavily struck this system too, the chairman of the National Bank RB Rustem Mardanov said to journalists today. In 2009 for the first time for the last five years the number of the banks, working on the territory of Bashkortostan, has become fewer though the Republic is still found in the list of leaders by the number of credit organizations and the level of provision with bank services.

Certain positive tendencies can be observed already now. Thus, the “My Bank Hypothec” returned to the Republic. In the nearest future the bank will be renamed into “My Bank Bashkortostan”.

Sure, the problems are still to the fore and crediting is one of them. According to Rustem Mardanov this sphere experiences certain stagnation now, especially small business crediting and hypothec crediting but there are the hopes that the banks will start activating these sectors soon. At present time such banks as “BASHPROMBANK”, “INVESTCAPITALBANK”, the Regional Development Bank, “SOTSINVESTBANK”, “My Bank Hypothec”, the Russian Savings Bank (Bashkir office), “URALSIB” and some other banks are occupied in hypothec crediting in Bashkortostan. It should be noted that the level of hypothec overdue indebtedness is lower than other indebtednesses – just 1,8%, while this index is equal to 6,7% by the credits, given to natural persons, and 7,5% - to legal persons.

But in a whole the banks reduced the volumes of crediting, making money mainly on currency exchange operations, credit and account services etc. But in the nearest future bank crediting will be restored, as Rustem Mardanov promised. At present time one may definitely talk about stabilization of the situation in the bank sphere, so the banks start working for future trends again, developing new bank products, services with plastic cards and many other services.
