Authorities try to expel gaming business from Ufa

The struggle with illegal gaming industry still remains urgent for Ufa and this problem was under consideration at today’s operative meeting in Ufa administration. 86 gaming clubs have been liquidated in the city from the time the federal law “Regulation of gaming industry” came into force. By that moment there were 159 gaming clubs in Ufa. At present time the majority of these casinos are closed but about 30 gaming clubs still remain afloat in the capital of Bashkortostan.
“This problem is typical for other big cities of the country too” – the Ufa Mayor Paul Kachkaev said – “But this is not the reason to relax. Illegal gaming industry has to be driven out from Ufa in the shortest terms and we have to become the positive example for other regions in this sphere”.
The main problem in struggle with the illegal gaming industry is that while the authorities try to prove the illegality of one club, the similar club starts working in another district of the city, though the federal law is prohibited on the whole territory of Russia since July1, 2009, except four specially allocated zones: in the Maritime Territory, in Altai region, in Kaliningrad region and on the borderline between Krasnodar and Rostov regions.
