Legendary Soviet TV presenter and announcer has died

Svetlana Zhiltsova, a legend of Soviet television, announcer and presenter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, has died. She was 90 years old. She made history as the first host of the KVN program, paired with Albert Axelrod.

According to Channel One's press service, Svetlana Zhiltsova was born in 1936 in Moscow. She studied elocution as a child and later studied at the Institute of Foreign Languages.

 Besides KVN, Svetlana Zhiltsova hosted many programs, including "Merry Notes," "Alarm Clock," "Good Night, Little Ones," the television magazine "Pioneer," and others. From 1976 to 1979, she hosted "Song of the Year," participated in the programs "Morning Mail," "Ogonyok," "By Your Letters," and hosted music concerts. She later taught at the Higher National School of Television.
