Ildar Abdrazakov received Dmitry Shostakovich Prize

The Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow hosted the ceremony for presenting the Dmitry Shostakovich Prize to the outstanding opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov. The award ceremony was part of the final gala concert of the VI Winter International Yuri Bashmet Arts Festival in Moscow, as reported by the press service of the Ildar Abdrazakov Foundation for the Support and Promotion of Young Talents and the Development of International Cultural Relations.

The Yuri Bashmet International Charitable Foundation has once again recognized outstanding cultural achievements. Established in 1994, the Dmitry Shostakovich Prize recognizes the highest achievements in world art.

The world-famous opera bass Ildar Abdrazakov has joined the ranks of renowned laureates. Among them are conductor Valery Gergiev, pianist Denis Matsuev, the tandem of composer Eduard Artemyev and director Nikita Mikhalkov, violinist Viktor Tretyakov, composer Alexander Tchaikovsky, Chinese composer Tan Dun, violinist and conductor Gidon Kremer, cellist Natalia Gutman, violinist Maxim Vengerov, pianist Yefim Bronfman and others.

"It is a great honor to receive the Dmitry Shostakovich Prize. This recognition becomes doubly significant in the year of the thirtieth anniversary of the Prize. It inspires and imposes a special responsibility - to be worthy of the great Shostakovich and to continue the traditions of high service to art. I am deeply grateful to the Yuri Bashmet International Charitable Foundation and personally to Maestro Bashmet for the high appreciation of my work. It is symbolic that the award ceremony took place within the framework of the arts festival, where music unites generations and serves as a bridge between classical heritage and modernity,” said Ildar Abdrazakov.

On this gala evening, Ildar Abdrazakov’s solo concert was held in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, accompanied by the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet. It became a bright conclusion to the VI Winter International Arts Festival of Yuri Bashmet in Moscow.
