Russian Drama Theater performance is recognized as best at festival in Kaluga

The IX All-Russian festival, "The Oldest Theaters of Russia," has ended in Kaluga. Among the participants are famous theater groups such as the "Theater on Liteiny," the Vladimir, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod Academic Drama Theaters, the Volkov Theater (Yaroslavl), and the theaters of Moscow, Lipetsk, Penza, Vologda, Ufa, and Kaluga. Over 10 festival days, 18 productions were shown.

As reported by the theater's press service, by decision of the festival jury, the performance of the State Academic Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Bashkortostan "Forest" was recognized as the winner in the nomination "Best Performance" (director - Nikolai Druchek).

People's Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Irina Agashkova was awarded victory in the nomination "Best Female Role" (for the role of Raisa Gurmyzhskaya). People's Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Nikolai Richter was recognized as the best in the nomination "Best Male Role" (for the role of Arkady Schastlivtsev) and Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Grigory Nikolaev was noted in the nomination "Best Supporting Male Role" (for the role of Karp).

The premiere of the play took place in February 2023. The production was timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Alexander Ostrovsky. He considered "The Forest" his best work, and according to many critics, the comedy is also the playwright's most complex creation.
