Writer from Bashkiria has joined Council under Russian President

A member of the Union of Writers of Bashkortostan, Kamil Ziganshin, has joined the Council under the President of the Russian Federation to implement state policy in supporting the Russian language and the languages of the Russian Federation's peoples. The corresponding decree of the President of the Russian Federation was signed on August 22, 2024.

“Inspired by the honor bestowed upon me, the first thing I did was carefully read the law “On the state language of the Russian Federation” and was surprised to discover that there is no responsibility for non-compliance with the norms of the Russian language. Now, it is clear why the Russians are being uncontrollably bombarded with foreign words. In general, there is something to work on. I will be grateful to lawyers, philologists, and all those who care about the purity of the Russian language and the national languages ​​of the people of Russia for specific proposals to change this situation,” Kamil Ziganshin wrote on his social media page.

The Council was created to improve activities to preserve, develop, and support the Russian language and the languages ​​of the Russian people and to strengthen the Russian language's position in the world. The decree approved the regulations on the Council, its composition, and its presidium.

The chairperson of the structure was the presidential adviser Elena Yampolskaya.

The Council's tasks are to develop initiatives on issues related to the main directions of "support of the Russian language and languages ​​of the peoples of the Russian Federation, promotion and strengthening of the position of the Russian language in the world." In addition, the Council will address the issue of ensuring the rights of Russian citizens to use these languages.
