Aigul Akhmetshina recorded Bashkir folk song with London orchestra

Our fellow countrywoman, opera singer, Honored Artist of Bashkortostan Aigul Akhmetshina, who now lives and works in London, released the Bashkir folk song “Kandugas” (“Nightingale”), accompanied by an orchestra. The artist recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (the state orchestra of Great Britain) led by Italian conductor Daniele Rustioni.

A fragment of the “The Nightingale” recording in Bashkir is available on the singer’s official website. The album itself will be released this year.

According to Aigul, she really wanted to include a Bashkir song on the album. The State Orchestra of Bashkortostan provided the symphonic score of the song, and the Ministry of Culture assisted with the national costume for the photo shoot.

Aigul Akhmetshina is a native of the village of Kirgiz-Miyaki from Bashkiria, a graduate of the Ufa College of Arts in the class of Honored Worker of Culture RB Nailya Yusupova. Aigul Akhmetshina is now an exclusive artist of the famous world classical music label Decca Classic. She became the first mezzo-soprano to sign a contract in 30 years.
