Changes have been made to laws in cultural sector in Bashkiria

In Bashkiria, changes were made to the laws of the Republic: “On Culture,” “On Intangible Cultural Heritage,” and “On Librarianship.” They were adopted by the State Assembly - Kurultai of the Republic of Bashkortostan on December 14, 2023. The laws signed by the Head of the Republic on December 22 were published on the official legal information portal on Friday.

The new law text “On Culture” regulates the rights of the republic's authorities and the municipality's local governments.

The Law “On Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Bashkortostan” prescribes replacing the name of the word “cultural heritage” with the phrase “ethnocultural heritage”. The law regulates relations in identifying, studying, using, updating, preserving, and popularizing objects of the intangible ethnocultural heritage of Bashkiria. The new edition defines the basic concepts used in the law. The powers of state authorities of the Republic of Bashkortostan in intangible ethnocultural property are regulated.

According to the text of the document “On Librarianship,” the authorities of the republic have the right to participate in organizing the acquisition and ensuring the safety of library collections of libraries located on the territory of the Republic. Local government bodies have the right to manage the acquisition and ensure the safety of library collections of libraries situated in the territory of a municipal entity, the founders of which are federal government bodies or government bodies of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
