Ufa Circus received reconstruction plans notice

The State Circus, which opened in Ufa in 1968, on the eve of its 55th anniversary, received notice of plans to reconstruct the building in 2026. It is planned to allocate almost 870 million rubles for the work. Let us remind you that the circus in Ufa has not been operating since 2017 due to the deterioration of the structures.

“We received a letter from the Russian Ministry of Culture that the reconstruction of the circus building in Ufa is planned to begin in 2026 and be put into operation in May 2028. We have the project documentation ready, and a positive conclusion has been received. We were closed for two reasons: problems with the roof and fire safety. We are currently maintaining ongoing renovations to the building. It is a monument of history and culture. We would like for the Ufa circus, the only one in a republic of four million, to begin restoration work in 2024 for the 450th anniversary of the city of Ufa,” circus director Guzel Tuktarova told Bashinform.

According to the Russian State Circus general director Sergey Belyakov, the project has now passed the state examination.

The Ufa State Circus opened its doors to spectators on November 5, 1968. Before the construction of the permanent building, temporary tent circuses operated in the city. The Ufa Circus has a large arena, a high vault for acrobatic acts, spectator rows for 2 thousand seats, dressing rooms, living rooms for artists, and rooms for animals. Outstanding masters performed under the dome of the Ufa circus. The building of the Ufa Circus is recognized as a historical and cultural monument of regional significance.

As Bashinform News Agency previously reported, on January 13, 2023, at a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, the Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, asked Vladimir Putin to help resolve the issue with the Ufa circus, which has been closed since 2017 due to poor condition.
