The play “Jute” was successfully shown in Budapest at the X International Theater Olympiad. At this significant cultural event, the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater was the only theater representing Russia. Out of 95 applications, the performance of the Bashkir Theater was chosen.
Let us remind you that director Airat Abushakhmanov staged the play based on the work of Russian playwright Olzhas Zhanaidarov. The events occurred during a terrible famine in Kazakhstan's early 30s of the last century. The play premiered in Ufa in 2015.
“The play “Jute” was performed in the Bashkir language, and the translation of the text into Russian and Hungarian was broadcast to the audience on a special panel installed above the stage. The Hungarian audience warmly received the performance and applauded the production participants for a long time,” theater press secretary Dinara Kayumova told Bashinform News Agency.
After the performance, a press conference was held where they discussed the play “Jute”, talked about the history of the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater named after Mazhit Gafuri, and about the culture and art of the republic as a whole. People's Artist of Russia and Bashkortostan Khurmatulla Utyashev told the conference participants about the related roots between the Bashkir people and the Hungarians. Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan Fanis Rakhmetov played the Bashkir folk song “Ural” on the kurai.
Theater director Irshat Fayzullin presented the artistic director of the Hungarian National Theater, Atilla Vidnyansky, with a letter of gratitude from the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan Amina Shafikova and a letter of gratitude from the Bashkir Drama Theater.
