Belarus will host Bashkortostan Literature Days on October 10–12

Long-standing cultural ties between Bashkortostan and Belarus continue with the Bashkortostan Literature Days in Minsk, where twelve writers from Ufa go on a three-day creative visit. According to the chairman of the Union of Writers of Bashkiria and deputy of the Kurultai Aigiz Baimukhametov, these are people who make a significant contribution to the literature of the republic - chief editors of literary magazines, poets, and prose writers.

As part of the Bashkortostan Literature Days, a large cultural program is planned: round tables, concerts, laying flowers at the obelisk monument on Victory Square, a book exhibition, the opening of a presentation of the artist, Honored Artist of Belarus Viktor Barabantsev “Bashkortostan through the eyes of Viktor Barabantsev” and much more. It is also expected to establish professional contacts for further cooperation in publishing and museum projects in library science, cinematography, theater, musical, and visual arts. A special place in the program is given to events dedicated to the memory of the Bashkir soldiers who defended Belarus and to the memory of classical writers of both republics.

Before the arrival of the Bashkir delegation, translations of works by writers of Bashkortostan will be published in all Belarusian publications. In turn, the poetry and prose of Belarusian colleagues in Russian and Bashkir have been published in all literary magazines of Bashkiria.

The apogee of the Days of Bashkir Literature will be October 11 - the Day of the Republic of Bashkortostan. On this day, a literary and musical evening dedicated to the friendship of Bashkortostan and Belarus will occur in Minsk.

Let us add that the Union of Writers of Bashkortostan is doing a lot of work to create an anthology of Belarusian literature in the Bashkir language. The results of the best contemporary writers of Belarus will be translated into Bashkir. At the same time, Belarusians are preparing a translation of an anthology of Bashkir literature into the Belarusian language. Presentations of both publications are planned for next year.
