August 27 is Russian Cinema Day

August 27 is Russian Cinema Day. On August 27, 1919, Lenin signed the Decree on the nationalization of cinema. In the USSR and then in Russia, this date became an official holiday for all people associated with the film industry.

Cinematographers of the republic also celebrated their professional holiday: the presentation of the new animated film Northern Cupids, created in Ufa by the Bashkortostan film studio and the Mukha studio, took place at the Rodina cinema in Ufa. The cartoon "Northern Cupids" has been released on wide screens in Russia since August 31.

Free film screenings were held in the republic as part of the all-Russian action "Cinema Night". On the eve of the Day of Russian Cinema, residents and guests of the republic were able to watch the highest-grossing domestic films of recent years in cinema halls and open-air cinemas: the family film "Cheburashka", the world's first full-length feature film "Challenge", and the military-historical drama "Righteous", dedicated to the feat of a native of Bashkortostan Nikolai Kiselyov at the height of the Great Patriotic War.

In the republic's capital, the film screening took place in the Ufa amphitheater on the embankment of the Belaya River. The events of the Night of Cinema were held at 50 republican locations.
