“In Heart of Eurasia. Bashkirs": exhibition about indigenous population culture will open in St. Petersburg

As part of the Republic of Bashkortostan Days in St. Petersburg, residents and guests of the city will be able to visit the Bashkir ethnic court, "Land of nomads - the land of legends", which will unfold in the State Academic Chapel. The exhibition “In Heart of Eurasia. Bashkirs” will start here on August 25, the press service of the Ministry of Culture told Bashinform News Agency.

The exposition includes several sections. In the "Ethnography of the Bashkir people" section, the image of a traditional nomadic dwelling will be broadcast. Its interior is characterized by exceptional simplicity, rationality, and strict constructiveness and includes decorative items.

Residents of the Northern capital and city guests will see the most valuable folk art monument. This national costume reflects not only the natural environment and household way of life but also the ethnic characteristics of the Bashkir people, their spiritual culture, and beliefs.

Petersburgers will have a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of the art of embroidery, patterned weaving, carpet weaving, wood carving, and the manufacture of musical instruments of the Bashkirs.

The second section of the exhibition, "Treasures of the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan," presents some of the rarest examples of Bashkir jewelry stored in the museum. Here, various Bashkir jewelry and techniques used in their manufacture will be demonstrated to the city's residents.

An original photo location for visitors to the exhibition will be the section "Selective weaving ". Patterned folk clothes, towels, curtains to delimit living space, and tablecloths, which are vivid examples of the traditional elective weaving of the Bashkir people, will appear before visitors in the context of a nomadic and stationary dwelling in an exposition space without a single showcase.

The exhibition will be held on August 25-27 at the State Academic Chapel of St. Petersburg.
