Russian Federation Government has established Elena Gnesina's personal student scholarships

The best students of Russian universities studying in the direction of "Musical Art" will receive Elena Gnesina's personal student scholarship from September 1, 2023. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the corresponding decree on its establishment and appointment rules on April 15, the press service of the government agency reports.

11 students will receive a monthly payment of 15 thousand rubles for 12 months. The main selection criterion is success and achievements in education and creative activity.

The academic councils of universities will nominate candidates for scholarship holders. The final decision will be made by a competition commission composed of the Ministry of Culture representatives, interested federal executive bodies, and educational organizations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to establish the Elena Gnesina scholarship. This decision is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian pianist and teacher. In February 1895, Elena Gnesina, together with her sisters Evgenia and Maria, opened a music school in Moscow, which later became one of the best musical educational institutions in the country.
