

The Russian professional Casta Diva award, conferred annually for outstanding achievements in opera, has announced the laureates for 2022.
Among the Casta Diva award winners are two natives of Bashkortostan, Bashinform News Agency reports.
A mezzo-soprano from Bashkiria, a graduate of the Covent Garden youth program, Aigul Akhmetshina, who performed as Polina (The Queen of Spades, Festspielhaus, Baden-Baden), Rosina (Rossini's Barber of Seville, Opera de Paris), Olga (Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky, San Francisco), Maddalena (Verdi's Rigoletto, Metropolitan Opera).
In the European Event nomination, several productions of Russian operas abroad were noted, including Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, La Scala, Milan, season-opening (Riccardo Chailly, Casper Holten; Boris - Ildar Abdrazakov).

Founded in 1996, Casta Diva is the only special prize in the field of opera in Russia. The initiator of the awarding establishment is Professor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, author of the three-volume encyclopedia "The Chronicle of the World Opera" Mikhail Muginshtein.
