Radiy Khabirov supported Bashkortostan Writers Union initiatives

Radiy Khabirov called the Bashkortostan Writers Union an authoritative organization and offered assistance in building an effective union activity. On February 7, the Head of Bashkortostan met with the Chairman of the Board of the Writers Union, Aigiz Baimukhametov.

“Dear Mr. Baymukhametov, I congratulate you on your election as Chairman of the Republican Writers Union. You have a great responsibility today. We have a very authoritative union, many folk writers and folk poets. I know that from an organizational point of view, there are some problems, and we want to help you. Two years ago, we met with our writers and implemented many decisions. Some decisions are under implementation, so I propose to discuss them step by step,” said Radiy Khabirov, opening the meeting.

At the meeting, issues of increasing the volume of support for the Republican Writers Union and measures to improve the prestige of the profession of masters of the word were discussed. Radiy Khabirov said that the republic is ready to support the organization in implementing creative projects to support the culture of reading and fostering patriotism. The Head of the Republic also instructed to start a major overhaul of the building of the Writers' Union this year, which should become the House of Writers.

“We discussed issues related to more effective activities of the Writers Union since this organization was created 90 years ago as a creative ideological organization. Today, many questions have accumulated - in particular, a major overhaul of the building of the Writers' Union is required. Radiy Khabirov instructed to begin work on the repair of the building, which is an architectural monument. The Head of the republic instructed to work out the issue of increasing subsidies. We discussed the issues of holding literary festivals, forums, and competitions, which aim to increase the population’s interest in reading. The Head of the republic supported all these initiatives. We also discussed the need to increase the writer’s authority and the power of the word in society.
