The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater summed up the results of the competition for writing a libretto and a musical excerpt from the multi-act opera Northern Cupids. According to the theatre's press service, the winners were Shaura Sagitova, the author of the musical fragment, a member of the Union of Composers of Russia, an associate professor of the Ufa State Institute of Arts, and librettist Aurora Rakhmankulova.
Recall that the project aims to highlight one of the pages of the history of Bashkortostan - participation in the Patriotic War of 1812. "Northern Cupids" (Les amours du Nord) were called Bashkir warriors during the Napoleonic wars of 1807-1814. The purpose of the competition is to create a modern national opera, an opera performance dedicated to a historical event.
The project is being implemented with a grant from the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The prize fund of the competition amounted to 300 thousand rubles.
