Archaeologists have established that craft center functioned near Ufa in Golden Horde era

In the era of the Golden Horde, a craft center functioned near Ufa. Craftsmen made bone products, smelted iron, and possibly pottery. This is evidenced by the unique finds of the archaeological excavations of the village of Podymalovo-1, said Aigul Sharafutdinova, press secretary of the National Center for Protection and Use of Immovable Cultural Heritage Sites RB.

An archaeological heritage site unique to Bashkortostan is being explored by a team of archaeologists as part of the design of the Eurasian Museum of Nomadic Civilizations.

The research expedition with the participation of volunteers and students started two weeks ago. The high density of buildings is striking - on a relatively small area of ​​​​up to 300 square meters, cellars, elements of capital buildings, as well as the central building, surprisingly with clear planning parameters, were revealed.

The skill of the ancient inhabitants is amazing. Quite presentable artifacts testify to this: an iron ring, scissors, an awl, mostly household items made of ferrous metal, as well as dice. The number of finds during the two-week expedition exceeded 2.5 thousand items. Of these, the most impressive was Kashin ceramics. This is a Central Asian type, glazed, colored, mostly with blue patterns ceramics. According to the abundance of finds, it seems that the ceramics are still local. The ancient settlement hides many secrets that can clarify the role of historical Bashkortostan in the Golden Horde.

Archaeological excavations of the settlement of Podymalovo -1 are only the first point in the program for the study of the Golden Horde antiquities as part of the formation of the concept of the museum of nomads. The plans for the current year include excavations of burial objects and structures, as well as exploration aimed at identifying and studying monuments of the 14th century.

Preliminary data indicate that the territory of the Ufimsky and Chishminsky districts and adjacent territories is saturated with similar monuments.
