On April 1, the qualifying stage for participation in the street art festival "FormART" started. It will last until the end of May. At this time, the festival website accepts applications from street artists aged 18 to 35. Those wishing to participate must fill out an application form and submit a sketch of the competitive work. After that, the application will be evaluated by a competent jury: federal and regional experts in the field of art, architecture, and urban planning.
This year the theme of the festival reflects the cultural heritage of the peoples and regions of Russia. Its key theme is "Through Time". Participants are invited to create street art objects related to the reflection of the cultural heritage of the peoples and regions of Russia in one of five thematic areas: "Arts and crafts of the population of the subjects of the Volga Federal District", "Multinationality and ethnocultural diversity of the Volga Federal District", "Historical and cultural heritage”, “Traditional art images in modern stylization” and “Ethnic cultural futurism”.
The finalists of the competition will be able to embody their artistic ideas on the walls of buildings known in each of the district's regions. Photos and videos of the process of creating works in the urban environment will be posted on the project website, and the winner of the festival in the fall of 2022 will be determined by public voting. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive cash prizes ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles.
Recall that the "FormART" festival is held on the initiative of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of Russia to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov. In 2021, the artist from Ufa, Laysan Bilalova, with the work "The Future in the Heart", became its winner. Her graffiti decorates one of the residential buildings in Neftekamsk.
