Irina Mikhnova: Entire library community will be looking forward to Eurasian Library opening

Director of the Russian State Library for Youth Irina Mikhnova spoke at the Second Cultural Forum "ART-Kurultay" in Ufa with a report on the theme "Youth is a strategic resource for the library science development in Russia." At the beginning of her speech, the guest of the Bashkir capital expressed her opinion on the project of the Eurasian Library, which was presented today by the Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov.

“The entire library community will be looking forward to the opening of the Eurasian Library,” the speaker noted. “The whole structure of the library that was shown on the screen is familiar and understandable to me. All the youth will be here when such a large, bright information and educational, cultural and leisure center appears here in two years. A library is a place where you want to come with or without reason, where it is nice, warm, and cozy. Different states are proud of the fact that they have a library because it is a symbol of culture, a cultural society. This is especially important for young people - our main, but also the most challenging category of readers.”

Irina Borisovna noted that the library was both a subject and part of the infrastructure of the state youth policy. Being one of the founders of the public organization "Volunteers of Culture", she also emphasized that it was very close to the volunteer movement since volunteering coordination centers were usually housed by libraries.
