In Ufa, the shooting of the feature documentary short film "Mayakovsky and the Two Ellies" was completed. The short film tells the love story of the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and a native of Davlekanovo (a village, later a city in Bashkiria), Russian emigrant Elizaveta Siebert. Director, screenwriter and producer of the film was the actress of the M. Karim National Youth Theater Elvira Shrainer. She also played the role of Ellie, and the non-professional actor Rustem Nasyrov played Mayakovsky.
“The story is amazing because it is connected with Bashkortostan. This was what I was very pleased with. I in no way connected the name of Mayakovsky with our republic. Previously, he seemed to me a hero from the posters. And in this story, such facets of personality were revealed, such sincerity and warmth of the proletarian poet, which impressed me very much,” Elvira Shrainer said in an interview with the Cultural World of Bashkortostan portal.
New York was recreated in Ufa - in the Aristocrat residential complex, which, according to the director, resembles America in the 1920s in architecture.
Premiere shows will take place in the spring in Ufa and Davlekanovo. The film will take part in Russian and international film festivals.
Recall that in the summer of 2002, Helen Patricia Thompson came to Davlekanovo - her mother's homeland, visited the house where she was born, drank tea with her neighbors, went to Lake Aslykul, visited the local museum and, as its director says, enjoyed the exposition. As a result of the trip, she wrote the book "My discovery of Bashkortostan."
